Tea Craft, Mountains and Raptor watching 17-24.8. 2025

During this one-week experience, we will guide you on a life-changing journey from tea lover to tea creator. Along the way, we will enjoy mountain walks in the beautiful area of Bakhmaro. A special highlight of this term is raptor watching in the mountains and at observation points near Batumi. From August, the raptors migrate through the Batumi bottleneck, with around 1 million raptors passing through over the course of two months.

The week will be a perfect balance of tea crafting, mountain exploration, and raptor watching. If we’re lucky, we may even have the chance to witness a wild horse race in the mountain river.

What you create, you will bring home.

We will dive into the creation of our signature teas – black and white! And if there’s interest, we will also experiment with green teas. We will spend 3-4 days in the tea garden, going through the processes of picking, tea processing, and testing.

For the next 3 days, we will explore the mountains around Bakhmaro and watch the raptors near Batumi.

Program:

  • 17.8. Welcome to Georgia! We will pick you up from the airport in Kutaisi around 2:30 PM. We’ll stop for a small snack on the way, and you will harvest your first tea leaves in the evening.

  • 24.8. Goodbye, Georgia We’ll take you to the airport at 4 AM.

Note: The program may be subject to change due to external conditions (e.g., weather).

What does a typical tea day look like?

After breakfast, we’ll head to the factory to check the previous day’s production. One or two teas will be tested, of course. Then, we’ll move to the garden around 9 AM to harvest fresh leaves while enjoying a meditative experience. We’ll leave the leaves for withering in the factory around 12 PM.

For lunch, we’ll enjoy a fresh salad made with local vegetables from nearby farms around 1 PM. Afterward, we will process the leaves from the day before. If we finish around 2 PM, you’ll have a choice: enjoy drinking tea in the mountains or by the sea, or maybe craft more tea? The choice is yours.

In case of rain, we’ll shift to the mountains or seaside for relaxation. So, the program may change depending on the weather.

Accommodation:

Most nights will be spent at a hotel in Chokhatauri, about 15 minutes from the garden. The hotel offers rooms for 2 people (private bathrooms, air conditioning). We’ll also have a home stay at Ramiz’s tea producer house, and one night will be spent in a hotel in Bakhmaro.

You will discover local cuisine throughout your stay.

  • Breakfast is self-catered (there are 3 shops within 50 meters of the hotel), or we will have breakfast at the hotel in Bakhmaro.
